Anallobaric
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010368
Describing a wind that does not cross isobars, meaning it flows parallel to them. An anallobaric wind is characteristic of geostrophic or gradient flow, where the pressure gradient force is balanced by the Coriolis effect and, for curved flow, the centrifugal force. In this idealized state, there is no component of the wind directed toward lower or higher pressure.
