Anthelic arcs

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003556

Rare optical phenomena appearing as bright arcs or segments of circles in the sky, opposite the sun. They form due to complex reflections and refractions of sunlight through ice crystals in the atmosphere, often associated with other halo phenomena. These arcs are observed at an azimuth of 180 degrees from the sun, making them difficult to spot directly.
