Parry arcs

A type of atmospheric halo that appears above and below the sun, tangent to the 22-degree halo. These arcs are formed by sunlight refracting through hexagonal ice crystals that are oriented with their main axes horizontal and two opposite faces also horizontal. They are named after Sir William Edward Parry, who first described them.
