Bourdon tube
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004002
A pressure-sensing element consisting of a flattened, curved metal tube that tends to straighten out when subjected to internal pressure. As the pressure inside the tube increases, its curvature changes, and this mechanical deformation is used to drive a pointer or transducer to indicate pressure. It is commonly employed in aneroid barometers and pressure gauges for meteorological applications.
