Centrifugal instability
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004234
A type of hydrodynamic instability that arises in rotating fluid systems when the angular momentum decreases with increasing distance from the axis of rotation. This condition allows for the growth of disturbances, leading to the formation of eddies or other organized structures. It is relevant in understanding the dynamics of rotating atmospheric flows and vortices.
