Chain aggregates
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004241
An ice particle made of several small crystals joined end to end in a line. Chain aggregates have been observed in strongly electrified deep convection and in weakly electrified winter storms, where electric forces between charged crystals are thought to link them. They differ from ordinary aggregates, in which crystals stick together at random orientations.
