Chilling injury

Physiological damage sustained by plants or plant products when exposed to low, non-freezing temperatures, typically between 0 and 15 degrees Celsius. Symptoms include surface pitting, discoloration, water-soaked areas, and failure to ripen properly. This type of injury is common in tropical and subtropical species sensitive to cold.
