Conservative property
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004611
A characteristic of an air parcel or fluid that remains constant as the parcel moves, provided no external sources or sinks affect it. This implies that the property is conserved during adiabatic or frictionless processes. Examples include potential temperature in dry adiabatic motion or mixing ratio in unsaturated air.
