Conservative field

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004609

A vector field where the line integral between any two points is independent of the path taken, meaning the curl of the field is zero. In meteorology, the gravitational force is an example of a conservative force field. This property implies that the work done by such a force depends only on the initial and final positions, not on the trajectory.
