Cyclone wave
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004830
A wavelike disturbance that forms on a frontal boundary, often marking the initial stage of an extratropical cyclone's development. This wave represents a perturbation in the stable frontal zone, leading to the formation of a low-pressure center and the beginning of cyclonic circulation. The Norwegian cyclone model describes the evolution of these waves into mature cyclones.
