Decision tree
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004886
A flowchart-like structure where each internal node represents a test on an attribute, each branch represents an outcome of the test, and each leaf node represents a class label or decision. In meteorology, these models are used for classification and regression tasks, such as forecasting severe weather events or predicting precipitation types. They provide a transparent and interpretable method for making predictions based on a series of conditions.
