Direct tide
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005039
A tidal bulge that forms on the side of the Earth facing the moon or sun, caused by the gravitational pull of the celestial body. This bulge represents a high tide, as the water is drawn towards the gravitational source. A corresponding direct tide also forms on the opposite side of the Earth due to inertial forces.
