Equatorial dry zone

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010497

A region near the equator characterized by persistently dry conditions, despite its proximity to the Intertropical Convergence Zone. This dryness is often attributed to atmospheric subsidence or specific ocean current patterns that inhibit convection and precipitation. The equatorial dry zone in the eastern Pacific Ocean is a well-known example, influencing regional climate.
