Equatorial trough

A persistent zone of low atmospheric pressure found near the equator, often associated with the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). This trough is a region where trade winds from both hemispheres converge, leading to rising air, cloud formation, and precipitation. Its position shifts seasonally with the sun's zenith.
