Meteorological equator

An imaginary line encircling the Earth that represents the mean position of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), where the trade winds from the Northern and Southern Hemispheres meet. This line is characterized by maximum solar heating, rising air, and frequent convection, and it shifts seasonally with the sun's zenith. Its position is generally north of the geographic equator.
