Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-000741

  1. A region of the Earth near the equator characterized by calm winds, light breezes, and frequent convective thunderstorms. This area corresponds to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), where trade winds from both hemispheres meet and ascend.
