Fata bromosa
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005547
A type of superior mirage observed over a cold surface, such as a snowfield or cold water, where a layer of warmer, less dense air lies above a layer of colder, denser air. This atmospheric stratification causes light rays to bend downwards, making distant objects appear elevated or distorted. It is similar to a Fata Morgana but typically less complex.
