Frost hollow

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005828

A localized depression in the terrain where cold, dense air tends to collect and settle, leading to significantly lower temperatures and a higher incidence of frost compared to surrounding areas. These features are often found in valleys or basins where radiative cooling is enhanced and cold air drainage occurs. They are particularly susceptible to early and late season frosts.
