GEOSAT

A United States Navy altimeter satellite, launched in 1985, designed to measure sea surface height with high precision. Its primary mission was to collect oceanographic data for military applications, including mapping the marine geoid and observing ocean currents. The data from GEOSAT also contributed significantly to understanding global sea level variability and ocean circulation patterns.
