Goldbeater's skin hygrometer
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006007
A type of hygrometer that measures atmospheric humidity by observing the expansion and contraction of a thin membrane made from the intestinal lining of an ox. This membrane, known as goldbeater's skin, is highly sensitive to changes in moisture content in the air. Its movement is mechanically amplified to indicate relative humidity.
