Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006342
An instrument used to measure the specific gravity or relative density of liquids, which indicates the concentration of dissolved substances. It consists of a sealed glass tube with a weighted bulb at one end and a graduated stem at the other.
