Implicit time difference

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006465

A numerical method for solving time-dependent differential equations where the future state of the system is calculated using information from both the current and future time steps. This approach requires solving a system of equations at each step but allows for larger time steps without becoming numerically unstable. In contrast, explicit methods calculate the future state based solely on the current state and are simpler but have stricter stability constraints.
