Ion cloud
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006638
A localized collection of electrically charged particles, typically ions and electrons, suspended in a gaseous medium. In the upper atmosphere, ion clouds can form in the ionosphere due to solar radiation and geomagnetic activity. These clouds can affect radio wave propagation and are studied using radar and satellite observations.
