Kalman-Bucy filter
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010579
A mathematical algorithm that provides an efficient recursive means to estimate the state of a dynamic system from a series of incomplete or noisy measurements. In meteorology, it is widely used in data assimilation systems to combine observations with numerical model forecasts, producing an optimal estimate of the atmospheric state. This filter is a cornerstone of modern weather prediction.
