Logarithmic scale
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007026
A method of displaying data where the intervals on an axis represent orders of magnitude rather than equal linear increments. This scale is particularly useful for visualizing data that varies over a very wide range, such as atmospheric pressure changes with altitude or the intensity of seismic events. The Richter scale for earthquakes is a well-known example of a logarithmic scale.
