Meddy

A large, coherent, subsurface eddy of warm, salty water that forms from the outflow of the Mediterranean Sea into the Atlantic Ocean. These eddies can persist for several years and travel thousands of kilometers, influencing ocean circulation and marine ecosystems. They are typically found at depths between 800 and 1500 meters.
