Mixed-layer spectra

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007332

The distribution of turbulent kinetic energy or other scalar variances across different eddy sizes or frequencies within the atmospheric or oceanic mixed layer. These spectra provide insight into the dominant scales of turbulence and the mechanisms of energy transfer. They are often measured using fast-response sensors on towers or aircraft.
