Velocity spectra
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009972
The distribution of kinetic energy across different scales of motion within a fluid, such as the atmosphere or ocean. It describes how the energy of turbulent flows is partitioned among eddies of different sizes. This analysis is often performed using Fourier transforms of velocity measurements.
