Mixing zone
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007340
A region within the atmosphere where turbulent processes effectively blend air parcels, leading to a relatively homogeneous distribution of properties like temperature, humidity, and pollutant concentrations. This zone typically extends from the surface up to the base of a stable inversion layer. Its depth varies significantly with time of day and meteorological conditions.
