Monsoon
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-001758
A seasonal reversal of winds accompanied by corresponding changes in precipitation, typically characterized by a wet summer season and a dry winter season. This large-scale atmospheric circulation pattern is driven by differential heating between land and ocean. Prominent monsoon systems occur in South Asia, West Africa, and parts of North America and Australia.
A thermally driven wind arising from differential heating between a land mass and the adjacent ocean that reverses its direction seasonally.
