Monostatic radar
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-001757
A type of radar system where the same antenna is used for both transmitting and receiving the electromagnetic signal. This configuration is common for weather radars, which emit pulses and detect the backscattered energy from precipitation or other atmospheric targets. The time delay between transmission and reception determines the range to the target.
A radar that uses a common antenna for both transmitting and receiving.
