Moraine
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007415
An accumulation of unconsolidated glacial debris, including rocks and sediment, that is transported and deposited by a glacier. Moraines form ridges or blankets of till, marking the former extent and movement of ice sheets and valley glaciers. The position and type of moraine, such as terminal, lateral, or ground moraine, provide key evidence for reconstructing past glacial activity and historical climate conditions.
