Ocean conveyor belt
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007658
A global system of deep ocean currents driven by differences in water temperature and salinity, also known as thermohaline circulation. This continuous circulation transports heat from the tropics towards the poles and cold water back towards the equator, significantly influencing global climate patterns. Changes in the conveyor belt can have profound impacts on regional and global temperatures.
