Partial derivative
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007804
A derivative of a function of several variables with respect to one of those variables, treating the others as constants. In atmospheric science, partial derivatives are extensively used in fluid dynamics equations to describe how atmospheric properties change in space and time. For example, it can represent the rate of temperature change with respect to altitude.
