Total differential
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009712
A mathematical expression representing the infinitesimal change in a multivariable function due to infinitesimal changes in all its independent variables. It combines the partial derivatives of the function with respect to each variable, multiplied by the corresponding infinitesimal changes. This concept is applied in atmospheric thermodynamics to analyze changes in state variables like pressure, temperature, and density.
