Photolabile
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007916
Describing a substance that undergoes chemical change or decomposition upon exposure to light, particularly ultraviolet or visible radiation. These compounds have bonds that can be broken by the energy of photons, leading to new chemical species. Many atmospheric trace gases, such as ozone-depleting substances and precursors to smog, are photolabile.
