Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007974

A region of the Earth's inner magnetosphere composed of relatively cold, dense plasma that co-rotates with the Earth. This plasma originates from the ionosphere and is trapped by the Earth's magnetic field. It extends from the top of the ionosphere out to several Earth radii, typically bounded by the plasmapause.
