Radiation shield
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008303
A device designed to protect a temperature sensor from direct solar radiation and terrestrial radiation, while allowing ambient air to flow freely around it. This prevents erroneous temperature readings caused by radiative heating or cooling of the sensor itself. Common designs include multi-plate, naturally aspirated shields or fan-aspirated shields.
