Shield

A protective barrier or structure that deflects or absorbs atmospheric phenomena, such as wind, precipitation, or radiation. In meteorology, this can refer to natural features like mountains blocking wind or artificial structures designed to protect instruments. A radiation shield, for example, prevents direct solar radiation from affecting temperature sensors.
