Raw moment
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008417
A statistical measure that describes the shape and characteristics of a probability distribution without being centered around the mean. The nth raw moment of a random variable is the expected value of its nth power. In atmospheric science, raw moments can be used to characterize distributions of meteorological variables like wind speed or precipitation.
