Resonance waves over hills
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008535
Atmospheric waves that are generated and amplified as stable airflow passes over mountainous terrain, particularly when the wavelength of the airflow disturbance matches the characteristic scale of the topography. These waves can propagate vertically and horizontally, influencing cloud formation, turbulence, and local wind patterns. They are a form of orographic wave.
