Schumann resonance

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008701

A set of global electromagnetic resonances in the Earth-ionosphere cavity, excited by lightning discharges. These extremely low frequency (ELF) electromagnetic waves propagate around the Earth, creating standing waves at specific frequencies. The fundamental resonance occurs at approximately 7.83 Hz, with subsequent harmonics at higher frequencies.
