Spissatus

A species of cirrus cloud characterized by a dense, opaque appearance that can obscure the sun or moon. These clouds are thick enough to appear dark when viewed from below, distinguishing them from other, more translucent cirrus forms. They are often associated with the upper parts of cumulonimbus clouds or the remnants of dissipating thunderstorms.
