Stack effect

The vertical movement of air within buildings or other structures, driven by differences in air density between the inside and outside. Warmer, less dense air rises and escapes through upper openings, while cooler, denser air enters through lower openings. This phenomenon is particularly noticeable in tall buildings during cold weather.
