Static pressure port
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009217
An opening on an aircraft's fuselage designed to measure ambient atmospheric pressure, undisturbed by the aircraft's motion. It is positioned in a location where the airflow is smooth and parallel to the surface to avoid errors from dynamic pressure. This pressure value is a primary input for the altimeter, which calculates altitude, and the airspeed indicator, which compares it with total pressure from a pitot tube.
