Atmospheric electrical discharges that produce crackling or hissing sounds in radio receivers, often associated with lightning or other electrical activity. This phenomenon is a form of electromagnetic interference that can disrupt radio communication and other electronic systems. It is particularly prevalent during thunderstorms or in regions with high atmospheric electrical potential.
