Telluric lines
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009522
Absorption lines in the electromagnetic spectrum of celestial objects that are caused by the absorption of light by gases in the Earth's atmosphere, rather than by the object itself. These lines are primarily due to water vapor, oxygen, and carbon dioxide. Astronomers and atmospheric scientists analyze telluric lines to study atmospheric composition and correct astronomical observations.
