Thermometer support
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009614
A mounting device designed to hold a thermometer in a specific position for accurate meteorological readings. The support holds the instrument securely, preventing it from touching other surfaces that could conduct heat and corrupt the measurement of free air temperature. For maximum and minimum thermometers, the support is designed to hold the instruments at a near-horizontal angle, approximately 2 degrees from the horizontal, to prevent the indexes from moving.
