Transient thermocline

A temporary layer within a body of water, such as a lake or the ocean, where temperature decreases rapidly with depth, forming and dissipating over relatively short periods. This feature is often driven by diurnal heating and cooling cycles or episodic wind events. It differs from a permanent thermocline, which persists throughout the year.
