Wave cloud

A type of cloud that forms in the crests of atmospheric waves, often appearing as lenticular or altocumulus undulatus clouds. These clouds indicate the presence of stable air flowing over topography or through a shear layer, creating oscillations. They are common downwind of mountain ranges.
